Group pushes for use of alternative fuel
THE Clean Cities Davao Coalition (CCDC) with the Department of Energy (DOE), the Department of Health (DOH) and the Recycled Oil (Recoil) Corporation are pushing for the use of coco-biodiesel in all the vehicles in the city to reduce dependency on fossil fuel.
"Sa ngayon kokonti palang ang gumagamit ng alternative fuel sa city," Tony de Guzman of the DOE said in the weekly Kapihan sa PIA forum.
However, de Guzman added that they are going to conduct a survey on the awareness of the public of the alternative fuel.
"Alternative fuel pwede nating magamit para masagot natin ang crisis ngayon sa fuel sa bansa lalo na sa pagmahal ngayon ng gasolina at diesel," Rex Labadia of the DOH said in the same forum.
The CCDC was launched last week in the city. Among the pilot areas of the campaign are Bagiuo, Davao, Marikina, and Makati City.
According to Labadia the group has already created committees to further encourage the public especially public utility vehicle operators and drivers.
"Magkakaroon po tayo nga mga personalities na mag-eendorce ng produkto para malaman ng mga tao kung anong klaseng produkto ito at ano ang mga advantages," Labadia said.
On October 27, there would be a fashion show at the Insular Waterfront Hotel to be led by the former Miss Universe Margie Moran-Florendo and other personalities like actor Joel Torre and Representative Miguel Zubiri.
"Pang-catch ng attention ng publiko ito para malaman nila ang sinusulong na produkto ngayon ng ating gobyerno," Labadia added.
The coco-biodesiel is sourced from coconut trees of which the country has in abundance. (BRQ)
