Buhangin cagers eye clincher; Talomo 5 vows to bounce back
TALOMO District fights for dear life against Game One winner Buhangin District in the 2005 Duterte Basketball League (DBL) Inter-District Final on Saturday at the Almendras gym. Game time is at 3:30 p.m.
Talomo lost to Buhangin, 72-82, and attempts to level the series to 1-1 and force a Game 3 on Sunday.
"We must admit we were tired playing in Game 1. A week's rest is enough for us to recover," said former HCDC pointguard-turned coach Joseph "Jojo" Sumalinog.
Talomo defeated Poblacion West District on October 15 in a knockout game then saw action in Game 1 the following day against the well-rested Buhangin five and lost.
But Buhangin has other plans. "We will finish this final. We don't want a Game 3," said veteran Jonel Avendanio.
Buhangin would again be relying on the services of Michael Balaba, Noni Lakian, Yusop Musa, Romel Hussin Sailladin, Dexter Alamara, Mark Hernandez, Rodel
Roble, Edwin Bohone, Cary King Cuerpo, Renan Aranaydo, and Randy dela Cerna.
Sumalinog parades Ronnel Bantilan, Allan Cuta, Elvine Gutierrez, Philip Jay Orquia, Joey and Wilson Panes, Nilo Bitoy Jr., Eugene Gil Labor, Jovan de Joya and Neil John Dagpin against Buhangin.
Poblacion West District takes on Agdao District for the third spot at 2 p.m.
Poblacion West is banking on Gefrin Abo, Janil Dimangadap, Edison Udam, Karim Abdul Abo, Jimson Mata, Alvie Alfeche, Edward Nunez, Vilmor Davin, Jigger Orbita, Jessie Ytac, John Donato and Dante Agbon.
Agdao is realying on Sonny Bucod, Reynante Pogoy, Jerson and Wilfred dela Pe¤a, Dennis and Arnold Garces, Ryan and Raul Diga, Arnel Polutan, Arthur Bacolod, Jessie Paradero and Fernando Quinte.
The tournament is presented by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte, supported by the Liga ng mga Barangay and sanctioned by the Basketball Association of the Phils-XI under regional director Regino "Boy" Cua.
