Jobseekers storm job fair at SM

MORE than a thousand unemployed Dabawenyos trooped to SM Davao's entertainment plaza for the one-day job fair sponsored by Davao City Representative Prospero Nograles Monday.

Fifty local recruitment agencies and 20 international recruitment agencies offered jobs here and abroad to qualified applicants.

Aside from the recruitment agencies, various government agencies also joined the fair to provide applicants the services they need.

Government agencies participating in the fair were the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, National Bureau of Investigation, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Department of Foreign Affairs, Social Security Services, Bureau of Internal Revenue, and PhilHealth.

Nograles said the whole idea was actually that of his son, Karlo, who find it fitting to help Dabawenyos find jobs especially during hard times.

Karlo said his main objective is to "enable job seekers to find employment opportunities here and abroad."

Nograles said they are planning to make the job fair a bi-annual event and added that he would recommend the same to his colleagues in Congress so they could duplicate the activity in their own districts.

"Kung sa Manila nagkakagulo sila, dito sa atin nagbibigay tayo ng trabaho," Nograles said. (BOT)
