Sta. Lucia Tour holds 2nd leg at Palos Verdes By Charles Raymond A. Maxey
THE Mindanao leg of the Sta. Lucia Tour teed off at Rancho Palos Verdes November 4-5 in Indangan, Buhangin, with visiting golfers from Manila and Cebu competing against the best of the hometown shotmakers.
Alta Vista of Cebu is the tournament leader in the team event after a scintillating performance back home last month, but will have its hands full against the ever dangerous Palos Verdes.
After the opening leg of the five-stage event, Alta Vista is six points clear of Palos Verdes with 39 points.
Palos is behind at 33 and Eagle Ridge is occupying third place with its 29.
Around 240 golfers from eight competing teams all over the country have converged in Palos answered the morning and afternoon shotgun tee-offs Friday and Saturday.
The quartet of homegrown talents Andrew Baustista, Jessie Tan, Bobby Wee and Ninot Galicia, who took home the Class B title in Cebu, are back to wage war against other competitors.
Bautista had also won the Division C individual crown during the opening leg.
From Palos, the Sta. Lucia Tour swings to Manila from December 1-3 for the final three legs.
The third leg is set at The Summit in Lipa City, before The Orchard in Cavite hosts the fourth leg. The final leg is set at Eagles Ridge also in Cavite.
