Ana Capri turns into serious actress
FORMER sexy star now turned serious actress Ana Capri was in town last Friday, along with international filmmaker Briccio Santos, to grace the premiere of their award-winning entry to the ongoing 2006 Cinemanila Filmfest, "Ala Verde, Ala Pobre."
In an exclusive interview with Capri at the lobby of the Apo View Hotel on Friday, she was all praises for the genius behind the movie.
"When I first read the script, it was like a good book. Hindi ko na mabitawan. Hindi ako nag-second thoughts in accepting the project," she says.
She admits the material is unlike other films she did before, thus the question crops up, where did she get her motivation?
"Magaling kasi talaga si Direk Brix. He has the patience to explain things. At bawat character ng pelikula, in-expose kami sa tutoong mga tao sa tutoong buhay. Gaya pag yung socialite, nakakausap namin puro mga sosyal din. Kung Japayuki, mga Japayuki din kahalubilo namin," she says.
Ana says she was challenged by her role in the movie. "Imagine ko, papano ko gaganapin ang tatlong mukha, tatlong karakter. Mas na-challenge talaga ako," she says.
Ana says she is lucky to work with Direk Brix as he has guided her all throughout the project. The pretty morena actress is set to do a horror flick dubbed "Kutob," which is due in December. She has a busy schedule as of the moment, being a mainstay of the soap opera "Mga Anghel na Walang Langit" over at
ABS-CBN.
Ana says she is not entirely saying no to sexy flicks. "Pero dapat maganda talaga ang script," she stresses. "May mga pelikula na kailangan ng flesh exposure. Pero hindi lahat. In a way, I'm also thankful to those who believe in me na binibigyan ako ng roles na di kailangan ng flesh exposure. Like the role I did with GMA, yung Hanggang Kailan."
"Ala Verde, Ala Pobre" was shown in Davao City on a special limited engagement at the NCCC Cinema 4.
The Davao Regional Artists Workshop, headed by Rachel Holazo, gets credit for bringing the film as a charity event for the benefit of Amuma, a cancer support group in Davao.
"Ala Verde, Ala Pobre", an independent film shot on digital video, recently won awards for Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Screenplay and 2nd runner-up Best Film at the Cinemanila Film festival. The film is a story of a young couple surviving against the odds at the "Riles."
