Slain woman not a rape victim: prober

ACCORDING to police the 18-year-old woman who was found dead in Mandug, Buhangin district in Davao City last week was not raped.

Autopsy conducted by Chief Inspector Tomas Dimaandal, medico-legal of the PNP Crime Laboratory, reveals the victim, Juvylyn Montano, native of Pantukan in Compostela Valley and resident of sitio Fatima in Mandug, died after she was hit in the head by a hard object.

"According to Dr. Dimaandal, naay fracture sa right side sa skull sa biktima, posible nga gibunalan hangtud sa namatay. Sa genital examination, there was no sign nga na-rape siya," SPO1 Alfredo Rubrico, prober of the Buhangin police precinct, told Sun.Star Davao.

Rubrico refused to reveal the motive and identities of those behind the incident pending investigation.

"We cannot still give the details, but our initial investigation revealed that the incident has something to do with land conflict," Rubrico said.

Montano was declared missing by her husband (name not identified) since October 30. She was discovered dead on a grassy portion, 50 meters away from her house by a neighbor at around 11 a.m. on November 5.

Montano's body was already in a state of decomposition when recovered. (JGR)
