Horseplay leads to boy's death

IT WAS just horseplay between two boys during recess time in school.

It could have been naughty horseplay, but still a play but it ended the life of one and tainted with blood another when an 11-year-old boy died after his playmate's brother in Hagonoy, Davao del Sur, punched him.

Dead on arrival at the Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital in Digos City is grade four-pupil Lyndon, while under the custody of the Hagonoy municipal police office is one Noel, 13.

Investigation conducted by the Hagonoy municipal police showed that the incident happened at around 9:30 a.m. while Lyndon and his classmate, Noel's younger brother, were throwing jokes at each other.

The victim's classmates claimed that in their rowdy exchange, Lyndon touched his friend's sex organ causing the latter to get mad.

The other boy went to his brother Noel and told him about what Lyndon did and Noel in turn rushed back to Lyndon and punched him in the face.

Lyndon fell to the ground unconscious and was brought by his teacher to the Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital. He was declared dead by the attending physician.

According to the school principal, Lyndon died because of internal hemorrhage.

Noel was later endorsed to the Hagonoy municipal police office.

It was learned that Lyndon's family intends to file charges against Noel. (JGR/NC)
