Chessfest at G-Mall
CLOSE to 50 local woodpushers will battle for the crown in the fourth leg of the 2005 DCSCI-NCFP Monthly Active Youth Chess Championship on Sunday at the Gaisano Mall of Davao.
Players from the University of Mindanao (UM) and Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) are still expected to dominate the one-day event sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines Region 11.
NCFP regional director Ronnie Tabudlong said the tournament would be a five-round Swiss System format.
The top winners in the under-20 event will get cash prizes with the champion receiving P1,000 and a trophy. The second and third placers will get P750 and P500, respectively, along with medals.
The Davao City Sports Council Inc. (DCSCI) is sponsoring the chessfest. (MLSA)
