All mixed up! By Jojie Alcantara
CHRISTMAS is almost right around the corner, and people are furiously cramming to buy presents for loved ones, friends, bosses, classmates and co-workers.
Since we all love, getting gifts that are unique, unusual, trendy or fun, let's be considerate when we give items away. Rather than be anxious about the budget, let us do away with the standard picture frames, towelettes and figurines (at least, that's what I sometimes get!), and work on our budget the fun way.
Luckily, there's the opening of the new shop called All Mixed Up at the 2nd floor of NCCC Mall in Matina. Located right beside the Foodcove, it is attracting young and old alike with its assortment of apparels, accessories, and goodies.
This one stop shop was launched to help small scale tenants who couldn't afford a bigger space, hence a bazaar for the conscious shoppers.
It recently opened with a blessing ceremony and cutting of ribbons by NCCC owner Helen Lim and I (of course, Mall Manager John Irene knew I was the ultimate "bazaar" shopper who can smell a great bargain underneath piles of clothing).
We tossed a basket of rose petals, ponkans, good luck coins and candies all over the shop for good luck, to follow the Chinese tradition. Then a fashion show followed.
Bea's Little Corner sells trendy bags and watches. i5sensi (Body Essences) offers aromatherapy lotions, soaps and body oils (I personally use their fragrant Body Butter Tropical as moisturizer, plus the Sensi Soya Milk Bath in Lavender Extract that's guaranteed to whiten your armpits!). Unsay Uso showcases trendy apparels for young and old alike.
There's Happy Feet and Antukin, which sells your favorite Happy Feet sandals, Havaianas flipflops and Antukin wear. God's Gift also sells shoes and sandals.
You can find interesting native items and pashmina in Maylao. Keith's Place is a wonderful haven for kids, while Tawin has fashion items and apparels you will like Beadstalk is for those enthusiasts of beaded accessories, while Beadazzled offers silver accessories and beaded Bangkok Bags. Jo-Watts on the other hand, has pearls, pearls and pearls to sell. Some Things are aptly called so because it has novelty items of your choices.
Now if you still can't decide which wonderful gift item to choose in All Mixed Up, then call me. I still do personalized caricature of people as gifts. I think I should get a space there too, don't you think?
