Toddler perishes in fire

A TODDLER died after a fire razed their house in Barangay Darong, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur, Thursday noon.

The victim was identified as Erjohn Necosia, 10 months old, resident of Barangay Darong.

Information gathered showed that the victim's mother, Babie, left Erjohn and her two children, aged 3 and 5 years old inside their house to fetch water from a water pump a few meters away from their house at around 12 p.m.

But when Babie returned, she was surprised to see her house burning.

In the investigation conducted by the Bureau of Fire of the Sta. Cruz, Babie's children (names not identified) played matches before the incident happened.

On the other hand, neighbors rescued Babie's two other children, but Erjohn, who was inside the room where the fire started, was not saved. (JGR/NC)
