Woman, daughter shot
A WOMAN and her daughter landed in the hospital after being shot by a man inside their house at Abayon Village in Calinan, Davao City, Thursday night.
Confined at the Davao Medical Center (DMC) were Germinia Genabe, 41, and Jeyan, 17.
Information gathered showed that the victims were inside their house at around 7:15 p.m. when one Jerry Lopez and alias Larry, residents of the same place, called Germinia.
When Germinia checked who was calling her, Jerry barged inside the house and pulled out a gun and without provocation shoot Jeyan in her forehead and Germinia several times.
Germinia's neighbors said they heard five successive gun bursts before they saw two men fleeing on foot in unknown direction from Germinia's house.
Their neighbors brought Jeyan and Germinia, who was hit in her left arm and left portion of her chest, to the DMC for treatment.
Inspector Rolly Tropico, deputy commander for operation of the Calinan police precinct, said investigation reveals that land conflict is the motive behind the incident.
"Jerry Lopez is the suspect in this incident because even before the shooting was transpired, he allegedly threatened to kill Germinia and he was identified by Germinia's daughter," Tropico said.
Tropico said they are now hunting down the suspects. (JGR)
