A beach wedding like no other

IT WAS a beach wedding like no other. In pageantry. In sartorial elegance. In surprises. In costs. And rightly so, because it was the wedding of no less than one of the world's best wedding photographers--Joselito Carreon Sy, who romped away with Photo of the Year plum in the WPPP (Wedding and Portrait Photographers of the Philippines) Congress in 2004--to Anna Grazieli Fondevilla, a beauteous part time commercial model.

Both Lito and Anna are Dabawenyos, a reason they decided to tie the knot in the fabled Malipano Island of the world class Pearl Farm Beach Resort in the Island Garden City of Samal last August. Cocktails and the dinner reception were also held there.

Lito is the son of Johnny and Zosima Sy, now both deceased, while Anna, the 28-year old bride, is the daughter of Rolando A. Fondevilla, a civil engineer from Davao, and Mariden, manager of Pru Life of UK, who is from Lucena, Quezon.

The afternoon wedding officiated by Pastor Neri "Ray" Secillano, had turquoise as motif.

The bride's wedding dress, a silk, chiffon is a masterpiece of Paul Cabral, while the groom wore an "Ermenigildo Zegna" while linen suit and a pair of brown Gucci sandals. The bridal entourage wore linen suits done by Jon Vega of Davao Limited.

Flowers and cymbidium orchids were flown in from South America and Holland.

A very pleasant surprise unfolded during the evening reception. The newly-weds, who had changed into more comfortable outfits, made a dramatic entrance into the sandy reception area dancing the salsa (to the tune of Micaela) coquettishly, thrilling the guests no end. Lito was a revelation to his friends and relatives who never thought he could dance that well. With Anna, who was a natural, they were a perfect pair indeed!

Governor Luis "Chavit" Singson flew all the way from Ilocos Sur to join the principal sponsors who included Messrs. Rogelio Uy, William Haw, Harry Lopez and Joseph Teves, and Lani Schoft, Conchita Ty, Helen Lim, Janice Ong and Alice Lao.

Wilson Lei stood as best man, while Jay Rodriguez was the maid of honor. The groomsmen were Rolando Fondevilla Jr., Cyrus Renan Tirol, Alwin Tepoot and Jinky Sy, while the bridesmaids were Lyra Camille Fondevilla, Roma Czarina Fondevilla, Lyanna Marie Fondevilla and Amethyst Joy Tirol.

Secondary sponsors included: Jennefer Oliva and Hubert Oliva to light the candles; Henry Haw and Jocelyn Haw to clothe the couple together; and Lyndon Teves and Lerlen Tves to bind them together.

Rocky Fondevilla III was ring bearer, while Jeremy Justin Fondevilla was coin bearer, and Andre Jeff Tirol, bible bearer. Flower girls were Nixie Jamar Evangelista, Andrea Gael Haw and Bianca Bettina Tepoot, while the little bride was Lianne Izabelle Fondevilla.

For give-aways, Anna ordered Bali sarongs on line from PT Maiden Mutiara Mandira in Bali, Indonesia.

The couple spent their honeymoon in yet another fabulous place--the Amanpulo Beach Resort in Palawan.
