3 men face charges for trader's death

CHARGES have been filed against three men for the killing a businessman, whom they allegedly robbed of P200,000 intended for the salary of the victim's workers in Bago Aplaya, Davao City, October this year.

Prosecutor II Fundador B. Villafuerte Jr. recommended charges of robbery with homicide against Mayolito Fuentes alias Maymay, of legal age, resident of Sitio Sook in Toril and his two unidentified companions, who are still at large.

Fuentes, who is now detained at the Detective Management Section of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), is accused of robbing and shooting to death Augusto Lacsamana, owner of the Napas Contracting and Allied Services (NCAS) in Bago Aplaya.

Lacsamana's son, Norman, businessman based in Pasig City, filed the complaint.

In her affidavit, Pinky Bisquera, secretary of NCAS, said that at around 3 p.m. of October 7 they were onboard an owner-type jeepney driven by Lacsamana together with four other NCAS employees on their way back to their office from the Bank of the Philippine Islands.

Bisquera said they have just withdrawn P200,000 intended for the salary of NCAS employees.

Bisquera said that while they were cruising the road, three unidentified armed men onboard a red motorcycle waylaid them and declared a holdup.

One of the men, later identified as Fuentes, allegedly grabbed the black clutch bag from Lacsamana, but the latter resisted prompting the suspect to shoot the latter hitting him in the abdomen.

The suspects immediately sped off with their loot.

Fuentes was arrested at his house at around 10 a.m. of October 21 by the elements of the Detective Management Section led by Police Senior Inspector Ranulfo Cabañog after he was positively identified by witnesses from a rogue's gallery. (JGR)
