6 teenagers charged for youth's slay

SIX young men were charged with murder for stabbing another young man to death in Bankerohan, Davao City last month.

Prosecutor II Jofre A. Saniel recommended the filing of charges against Kimber, 15, Giovane, 17, Ronito Rodriguez, 18 (true names withheld for being minors), and three unidentified companions, all residents of Barangay 5-A, Bankerohan.

Kimber, Giovane, and Rodriguez are now detained at San Pedro police precinct while their companions remain at large.

Maylene Hermoso, 39, vendor, and the mother of killed victim John April, 18, filed the complaint.

The victim's girlfriend, Genny Jean Corsonado, 18, said in her affidavit that the incident happened at around 6:30 p.m. of November 30 while she and John April were walking at the back of Mallengke on their way to the stall of his mother.

She added that Kimber's group suddenly blocked their way, mauled, and stabbed John April without provocation.

Corsonado said John April managed to run towards his mother's stall and seek help.

Corsonado added she did not notice who stabbed John.

The victim was brought to Brokenshire Hospital, where he later died while being treated for the stab wounds in his shoulder.

The suspects were arrested in Bankerohan on December 1. (JGR)
