Gift and magic
By Charles Raymond A. Maxey

* A Christmas treat for children

THEY say that Christmas is for children. Yes, Virginia, it is. And Christmas came early for around 100 kids from the Bantay Bata 163 and Neighborhood Therapy Center who were treated to an afternoon of fun and laughter last December 10 at the SM-City Davao Entertainment Plaza.

The children, who are less privileged and those suffering from various disabilities, got their wishes just like other kids' during the yuletide season--a Christmas present.

Organizers of the "Gift and Magic," as the show was called, not only provided gifts and snacks but also came up with a magical show that thrilled the kids no end.

The annual event was presented by Bonjee Entertainment Services headed by James Infiesto in cooperation with the Junior Chamber International, Durian City Jaycees Philippines and the Davao City High School Batch '85.

The affair was a resounding success, with Durian City Jaycees Philippines president Jack Rubillar and April Mae Lopez giving their all-out support to the noble endeavor.

Monet Lina, a member of DCHS Batch '85, represented his batchmates and was asked to give a brief speech at the start of the show.

"It's heartening to know that for once in their lives, we were given the chance to share our blessings with them, especially in the season of giving," Lina told Sun.Star Davao.

The charitable undertaking was part of the activities lined up by the DCHS Batch '85 as it celebrates its 20th year with a grand reunion on December 30 at the Chateu Veronica Apartelle along Araullo St.

Infiesto, also a member of DCHS Batch '85, entertained the kids with his magic tricks. There were also clowns to enthrall everyone.

Around 100 kids who are sons and daughters of Jaycees also joined the activity and mingled with the other children, making the show even more meaningful.

It certainly was a day to remember, not only for the kids but also for the adults who gladly shared the moment with them.
