Calinan bets display might

CALINAN Central Elementary School topped the elementary division of the sepak takraw event of the Pahalipay sa Pasko ni Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte Sportsfest Wednesday at the City Hall Drive in Davao City.

The team of John Mcleen Colomo, Ibrahim Damam, Crister John Sabandal, Jayson Tejano and coach Felix Pabroquez blanked Wangan Elementary School Team A bannered by Ken Carreon, Joylord Villaflor, Joel Libaton, and coach Agustin Juyad.

Sta. Ana Elementary School's Charlotte Soliva, Jeremiah Solidum, Jeffrey Ilao and coach Lito Odog took the second runner-up honors after besting the Magsaysay Elementary School composed of Earnest Andrew Belo, Joshua Mazo, Jose Juvian Escamis, John Rey Hesus and coach Marivic Palacay, 2-0.

Tournament manager Nilda Sebellino said the collegiate division would be played on Thursday until Friday with the awarding rites set after the final games in the afternoon.

The tournament is part of the various events lined up by the Sports Development Division-City Mayor's Office in coordination with the local NSAs.

City sports coordinator Christopher "Bong" Go said the other events are ongoing like softball at the UM Matina, billiards at the Boy Cherry Billiards Center, boxing at the Rizal Park.

Chess, taekwondo, lawn tennis, swimming and basketball are also scheduled this month, he said.
