N. Cotabato guv wants firecracker ban strictly implemented
NORTH Cotabato Governor Emmanuel Piñol has ordered the strict implementation of a firecracker ban in his province.
This after his six-year-old niece is feared to go blind after being hit by a firecracker explosion right inside the Southern Baptist College in M'lang on Tuesday.
Piñol ordered the police to confiscate all forms of pyrotechnics being sold in his province.
Grecia Princess Piñol, a Grade 1 pupil of Southern Baptist College in M'lang, North Cotabato, was reportedly hit by an exploding firecracker that was lit by a classmate.
The young girl's eye was badly damaged by the explosion. Unconfirmed reports reaching Sun.Star Davao revealed that doctors are seriously considering taking out the child's right eye to avoid complications.
She is now under observation at the Davao Doctor's Hospital.
It was learned that there is an existing ordinance in the province against sale and use of firecrackers.
Piñol said he ordered the strict implementation of the ban to prevent another accident from happening. The governor said he does not want other people to suffer the same painful fate his family is suffering now considering the holiday season. (BOT with Garry Fuerzas)
