Woman sues husband for Christmas attack By Joy G. Romares
A WIFE filed charges of serious illegal detention against a farmer who she accused of taking her and their daughter hostage on Christmas day in their house at Marapangi, Toril.
With knife in hand, the wife said, the farmer was demanding for forgiveness and that they give their marriage another chance.
Charged was Jun Sungco, 45, who stays at a farm in Baracatan, Toril, this city.
Miguela, Sungco's wife, 41, a mother of five filed the complaint.
Miguela told Sun.Star that their marriage broke up last year after 25 years.
"We separated because he was always drinking, he's a drunkard. He's been living at our farm in Baracatan," Miguela said.
Miguela, this time, wants more than just separation but to have her husband placed behind bars.
She said it was around 2 p.m. of December 25 when Jun arrived, roaring drunk.
"We locked the door because we were afraid of him, he might go wild inside our house and harm us, but my youngest child told me to let him in because it's Christmas," Miguela said.
Once inside the house, Jun proceeded to the kitchen and got a knife.
"He threatened to stab me with the knife and said, will you forgive me or not?" she said.
Miguela added that Jun dragged her inside their room with her youngest child.
In the room, she said, Jun was forcing her to come live with her at their farm.
Their son who was left outside while this was going on called for police assistance.
"When the police arrived, I let my child go out of the room leaving me and Jun inside. I really didn't want to do as he said but I pretended to agree so that I will be allowed to go out of the room. It was when we went out of the room that Jun was arrested," Miguela said.
Jun was brought to the City Prosecution Office Tuesday escorted by the members of the Toril police precinct for the filing of charges against him.
