CAO in-charge assures no corruption in office
THE officer-in-charge of the City Assessor's Office (CAO), Edelito Domingo, on Thursday said he will make sure that no corruption would occur in his office.
Earlier reports showed that City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte ordered City Legal Officer Melchor V. Quitain to investigate the CAO, Business Bureau and Civil Registrar's Office to get several legal documents from the departments after he has allegedly received complaints of corrupt practices within the said departments.
"I'll try my best to prevent corruption, basta I will provide safety nets to prevent corruption in this office, tutukan ko talaga yan sila isa-isa, ako din kasi ang managot kay Mayor," Domingo said in an interview.
Domingo, after three weeks as CAO officer-in-charge, warned the employees of his office to work as honest as possible.
"Winarningan ko na sila na magtrabaho talaga kayo kasi si Mayor galit talaga sa corruption, pag hindi kayo tumigil bahala kayo kay Mayor," Domingo said.
Domingo said that he has formed 5 teams of appraisers to start going on field January, next year.
"Ang corruption kasi, sa pagkakaalam ko ay dun sa bargaining sa appraisal, ang iba gusto pataasin, ang iba pababain, ang iba, I don't know. I don't have evidence of all that, noon yun," he said.
Duterte on September ordered a revamp in three departments.
Meanwhile, Civil Registrar Officer Judith G. Lee said she is happy with the investigation ordered by Duterte.
"Lipay kaayo mi ana kay kadaghanan sa amoa are really honest and hardworking. Mao ra pud na among gihuwat so that the truth will come out," Lee said in a separate interview.
According to Lee, families of the employees in her office have been badly affected by the rumored corruption in their office because not all employees are involved in corrupt practices.
Lee said that majority of those involved in corrupt practices are fixers outside her office who may have some contacts inside the office.
Business Bureau officer-in-charge Villa Dureza for her part said Quitain already visited her office. She said Quitain only reminded them of their responsibilities. (BRQ)
