Garbage trucks prohibited from unnecessary stops
GARBAGE trucks are no longer allowed to make unnecessary stops on roadsides, said City Administrator Wendel E. Avisado.
Avisado on Wednesday said it has been observed that City Environmental and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) garbage haulers, while collecting garbage, are seen selling collected recycled materials at junkshops and roadsides.
"Kasi maraming nagrereklamo ng mga unnecessary unloading, tapos nagdadala ng amoy ang mga recycled materials," said Avisado.
Avisado said truck drivers were immediately told to avoid unnecessary stops in time for the Asean Tourism Forum (ATF).
The City Government through Cenro and its haulers have also agreed to divide garbage collection into three shifts.
The first shift, starting 4:30 a.m. will be provided with 40 units ten-wheeler and 6 units 6-wheeler garbage trucks.
Second shift that starts at 4 p.m. will be provided with another 10 units ten-wheeler garbage trucks.
The third shift at 8 p.m. will also be provided with 28 units ten-wheeler garbage trucks.
"We have been doing this but we are trying to improve the system starting Friday," Avisado said.
He added that the 84 garbage trucks would be utilized on a daily basis to keep the city garbage-free in time for the forum. (BRQ)
