Davao City cagers, spikers down foes
THE cagers and spikers of host Davao City routed rivals in Saturday's matches in the 2005 Southern Mindanao Prisaa Meet at the University of Mindanao (UM) Matina gym.
Reigning national Prisaa women's champion Davao City squad crushed Davao del Sur, 65-15, as Rizal Memorial Colleges' Juvy Encarnacion and UM's Mary Ann Canque led scoring with 12 points each.
Davao City men's team also shared the limelight by whipping Davao del Norte, 66-38.
Edgar Awitin and Jasper Callo combined for 25 points to lift Davao City's victory in the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP)-sanctioned cagefest.
In volleyball, Davao City men spikers survived a 25-22, 25-19, 25-15 win against Tagum City. They also spanked Davao del Sur, 25-6, 25-15, 25-16 in the opener Friday.
The Davao City volleybelles walloped Davao del Sur, 25-1, 25-10, 25-0 in their debut in the meet sanctioned by the Davao Amateur Volleyball Association (Dava).
The Davao del Sur women's team suffered an 11-25, 7-25, 11-25 in an earlier match while the Tagum men's squad overcame Davao Del Sur, 25-16, 25-16, 20-25, 26-24.
