Davao bets in Malita Invitational
A FIVE-member Davao City team will compete for honors in the Table Tennis Open Invitational Tournament in Malita, Davao del Sur slated Saturday and Sunday.
The team, bannered by Metro Davao Table Tennis Association (Medatta) players, will slug it out in the rubber and wood categories.
Former Medatta president Friendee Nuñez Tuesday told Sun.Star Davao that veteran Ted Dayanan would head the Davao cast.
"Joining him are Lito Palicte, Philip Beldirol and Arnulfo Reusora," he said.
The rubber event stakes a cash prize of P5,000 for the champion while the runner-up will settle for P3,000. The third and fourth placers will get P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.
In the wood competition, the champion will receive P3,000 as P2,000 will go to the second placer and P1,500 for third.
The Table Tennis Association of the Philippines (Tatap) Southern Mindanao Region sanctioned the two-day tournament.
Medatta, in coordination with Tatap 11, is mapping out its 2006 calendar of activities.
Nuñez, however, will have his hands full in Davao City's preparations for the coming Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet. (MLSA)
