Biz council holds chamber, SME capability-building
THE Mindanao Business Council recently conducted a validation meeting of the draft training modules on chamber and SME capability-building in line with the ongoing Chamber Management Institute (CMI) project.
The CMI project team, headed by project manager Ricardo C. Juliano, and representatives from the five pilot chambers (Cagayan de Oro Chamber, Zamboanga Chamber, Tawi-Tawi Chamber, Metro Cotabato Chamber, and Surigao Chamber) attended the meeting on January 13-14, 2006 at the Apung Kula Restaurant.
During the meeting, the training module developers presented the draft modules to generate inputs on how to best customize the modules based on the chamber and
SMEs' training needs. Through this review process, the draft modules will be refined.
"The module developers came up with very effective modules that are responsive to the training requirements of the chambers and SMEs," said Juliano.
"I'm looking forward to the implementation of these trainings so that we can help augment the skills of chambers and SMEs in Mindanao," he added.
Discussed were the five training modules on chamber capability-building namely: effective chamber management, revenue generation and fundraising, membership strengthening and servicing, advocacy, and project development and management.
The other five training modules focused on SME capability building, namely: financial management, starting a business, marketing, information technology for SMEs, and branding and packaging.
"I am optimistic that through the validation process, the expectations on the content and training methodology of the CMI Project, the pilot chambers, and the module developers would be leveled off," Mr. Juliano stressed.
The CMI Project is a partnership of the MinBC and the Canadian International Development Agency through its Private Enterprise Accelerated Resource Linkages 2 or PEARL 2 CIDA Program. The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the project consultant.
