Landslide disrupted telecom service: Smart By Barbara Carla R. Quiero
A LANDSLIDE caused the disruption of Smart Communication services last Wednesday night, according to a statement released by Smart Communications Inc. Thursday morning.
Smart Communication subscribers complained they could not send and receive SMS or make calls on Wednesday.
The company apologized for the inconvenience caused by the outage of the Smart service.
The same statement said that Smart services were temporarily disrupted due to two cable breaks in their transmission network.
"The cable breaks were caused by landslides that damaged two of our facilities, which are located in remote areas of Bukidnon Province," it said.
"We immediately dispatched repair teams to these distant sites. We were able to restore normal service by 8 p.m. Wednesday evening." (BRQ/With press release)
