Tax probe on 4 agri firms to be started

THE City Treasurer's Office intends to start its investigation on allegations that four multinational agricultural companies in the city are not paying taxes now that the period for the renewal of business permit is over, City Treasurer Rodrigo Riola said Friday.

Riola, however, said they already have background information about the four companies since receiving the report two weeks ago.

"The investigation will be next week pa kay busy pa kaayo mi sa one-stop shop," he Riola.

Riola vowed that after the renewal period, they would definitely push through with the investigation.

He said it is the primordial duty of the department to monitor business establishments in the city.

"Actually, they paid some of the local taxes but its not substantial and the others don't have permits," he said.

Riola said their department would study the book of accounts of the four firms.

He added that after the investigation, they would immediately inform the public on the names of such firms and the outcome of the investigation. (BRQ)
