US inventor, priests to grace AdeD HS golden jubilee celeb

A FILIPINO industrial inventor, 3 priests, several lawyers, a former Cabinet member, a former diplomat and other professionals in different fields of endeavor will be joining the golden jubilee celebration of the Ateneo de Davao High School Batch '56 in different venues of Davao City on February 3, 4 and 5.

This was announced by Amado "Gie" Cantos, perennial president of the AdeD HS Batch '56 alumni association, and former housing secretary Dionisio "Dion" dela Serna, one of the prime movers of the three-day golden jubilee celebration.

Cantos and dela Serna said four more lawyers belonging to the batch have committed to attend the celebration. They are Judge Paul Arcangel, Jesus Albacite, Cesar H. Santos and Neil Valdez.

The two expected the remainder of the 33 surviving alumni of the batch (of the 49 Class 1956 members, 16 have gone to the Great Beyond) will turn up during the once-in-a-lifetime celebration wherever they are in the world today.

They said that at least all those residing now in the United States of America, led by engineer Benjamin "Ben" Du, now a thriving industrial inventor in the US, are coming home for the jubilee.

The surviving members expected to attend are:

Priests: Asandas "Asan" Balchand, Arsenic Jesena and Reynoso "Rey" Tusoy.

Physicians: Rolando "Rollie" Aledia, Benito "Ben" Hao, Emiliano "Jun" Herrera Jr. (USA) and Rolando "Rolly" Tiongco (USA).

Engineers: Benjamin "Ben" Du (USA), Wilfredo "Willy" Breva, Severo "Jun" Montinola Jr. and Rogelio "Rolly" Ancheta.

Navy Officer: Capt. Hernani "Nani" Jover.

Businessmen/entreprenuers: Nelson "Nel" Sison, Crispo "Pong" Liceralde, Emmanuel "Nonong" Calizo, Laurenao "Larry" Suarez, Gavino "Bobby" Teves, Nilo Santamarina, Ramon "Mon" Sarenas, Jose "Joe" dela Victoria, Delfin "Dell" Sumcad (USA) and Francisco "Francis" Cavestany Jr. (USA).

Public service: Orlando "Boy" Ozoa

Other members of Batch '56 expected to be present in the golden jubilee are Achiles Sison, Perfecto Ramizez, Danilo Pulido, Luis Occasiones, Emeterio Josue Jr. and Fidel Villareiz.

Judge Arcangel, Gie Cantos, Ben Hao and Nel Sison form the welcoming party to meet the alumni on February 3, first day of the jubilee celebration at the Marco Polo Hotel lobby.
