3 killed in vigilantes' strike By Rex C. Otero
JUST a week after the much-lauded Asean Tourism Forum, suspected vigilantes strike anew, killing three people, including a young woman, in separate incidents in Davao City on Tuesday.
The latest victim was 18-year-old Rachel Von Bagas of Generoso Extension in Barangay 18-B, Barrio Obrero.
Police Officer 2 Richard Dionisio of the Sta. Ana Police said Bagas was with two friends sitting on a bench at the corner of Torres and Clarin streets at around 7 p.m. when two unidentified men onboard a blue Honda Wave motorcycle with no plate number suddenly stopped in front of them.
One of the men suddenly drew out a gun and shot Bagas several times without provocation.
They then sped off towards the Agdao area.
The victim, who later learned to be involved in a hacking and rugby sniffing incidents in the past, died instantly due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities suspect that a rival gang could be involved in the killing.
At around 11:30 a.m., Reynard Libre was stabbed several times in Leon Garcia, Agdao.
The 28-year-old Libre was seen being chased by an unidentified man wearing white shirt and blue cap.
The suspect cornered the victim near a gasoline station along R. Castillo and stabbed him several times.
The victim was immediately brought to the Davao Medical Center where he later died.
In Balusong, Matina, an unidentified body of a woman was found at a vacant lot in La Vista Monte Subdivision that same day.
Not one of the residents knew the victim.
SPO3 Joven Victoriano of the Talomo police described the victim to be in her 30's, 4'9"in height, clad in white shirt and maong pants.
The victim bore several stab wounds in her body with a big slash in her neck.
Macario Limbaga discovered the corpse around 11 a.m. while he was about to throw garbage in the area.
Scene of the crime operatives suspect that the victim was already dead for six hours when found.
Police also suspect that the victim was killed somewhere else and her body dumped in the subdivision.
The unidentified body is now at the Angel Funeral Homes.
