Councilor slams council planning outside city
DAVAO City Councilor Victorio Advincula slammed Tuesday the holding of City Council legislative planning at the Monastery of Configuration in Bukidnon on February 22 to 24, saying it could be perceived as "ugly" by Dabawenyos and tourists.
"They are holding the planning session in Bukidnon. You know that is ugly," Advincula said.
He said the City Government is trying its best to invite tourists to come and enjoy the city's beautiful places and make investments afterwards, yet its officials would hold their planning outside the city.
"We are trying our best to ensure that conventions, seminars, conferences will be held here. We are inviting them to come to Davao, feel our hotels and spend in Davao, for the benefit of Davao City. Now here comes the officials of Davao City, particularly the city councilors, on the contrary, they are going out of Davao City, have a conference outside the city, isn't that ugly?" he said.
Advincula added that he already decided not to attend such planning.
Councilor Bonifacio Militar earlier said he would also not attend the planning.
But Councilor Jose Louie Villafuerte said the venue was chosen so that councilors would not be disturbed during the planning session.
"Lahi man gud kung layo, kung duol lang sa amo, basin mag-uli-uli, whereas kung didto, bisan naay tawag na kailangan mag-uli, dili kauli kay layu man," Villafuerte said.
He said the councilors had four venues to choose from like Seagull resort, Pastor Quiboloy's place, Eden Garden, and the monastery in Bukidnon.
"Pero diri man gud ang pinakabarato and conducive nga place for planning," said Villafuerte.
Villafuerte said one councilor would pay P1,850 a day in Seagull, P1,650 a day in Quiboloy's place, P3,000 a day in Eden, but only P700 a day in Bukidnon. (BRQ)
