'Conscience bloc' holds own planning
A LEGISLATIVE planning session was conducted Thursday by the minority group of five councilors or the so-called "conscience bloc" at the City Council.
The planning session was separate from the one conducted by the majority group in Bukidnon.
Among those who were at the session hall include Councilors Victorio S. Advincula, who acted as chairperson, Diosdado A. Mahipus, Danilo C. Dayanghirang, Nilo G. Abellera, and Pilar C. Braga.
Mahipus said Councilor Paz C. Mata was not able to attend their session because she left for Leyte on the same day to give assistance to her relatives.
Councilor Nenita R. Orcullo on the other hand was not able to make it to the session since she has an earlier commitment with a women's group.
"I suggest that the result of this planning session that we are doing be properly communicated to the vice mayor," Mahipus said during the session.
Braga said they are not in any way contradictory to the legislative planning of the majority in Bukidnon.
Mahipus, however, said it is the manner of holding the planning outside the city that they are not agreeable with.
Meanwhile, Advincula said the session is a time to review the legislative action of the City Council on the priority programs and projects of City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte for 2004 to 2007.
"This is more of a review, let us look back, ano ba ang ating nagawa for the past year sa agenda and we only have one year," Advincula said.
Issues and concerns discussed during the session were similar to those discussed by the majority group like matters on social development, economic development, environmental development, governance, and development administrative administration. (BRQ)
