Testigo 'reloaded' starting Monday
By Nelson C. Bagaforo

STARTING today, primetime news will never be the same again with the "reloading" of Davao City's top-rating local news program Testigo, anchored by hard-hitting broadcast journalist and Davao's native son Tek Ocampo.

"We don't want to sit on our laurels, hence the reloading of Testigo," Rikki Escudero, GMA's Regional Television officer-in-charge, said in a press conference at Waterfront Insular Hotel Thursday evening.

"What’s your opinion on Arroyo’s emergency rule. Post comment.

Testigo has been the city's preferred local newscast since December 2005. The latest AGBNielsen survey showed Testigo with an unprecedented 11.8 percent advantage over competition.

Escudero said the 30-minute news program will have new compelling segments and a brand new on-air look without sacrificing the kind and quality of news and information needed by Dabawenyos.

"It will have crisper headline, incisive and objective stories. There's no room to get bored with Testigo," Escudero assured.

She also said the creative minds of GMA's News and Public Affairs, Program Support and Post Production Department have joined forces to create a brand new logo and an exciting opening billboard for Testigo.

With the reloading of Testigo, Dabawenyos have a lot to watch out for, Escudero said. Apart from top stories of the day and the freshest police reports, Testigo's segments will include enlightening features on business, weather and sports.

"The goal is to deliver all the news and information needed by Dabawenyos, a tall order that the passionate and resourceful members of the Testigo team are eager to meet," she said.

As it enhanced its local news program in the city, GMA Network sent Testigo reporters to GMA Network Center in Manila to undergo intensive training and immersion.

Back at home, the news team is armed not only with valuable experience, but with renewed drive for excellence.

Escudero said technical operations personnel also underwent hands-on training and immersion using brand new, state-of-the-art equipment. The Davao team is also using new cameras and top-of-the-line editing equipment.
