Appreciation Night at the garden By Jojie Alcantara Witerary
JUST like the elaborate setup during the successful Asean Tourism Forum last January, Waterfront Insular Davao prepared another garden setting event in honor of corporate establishments, supporters and travel agencies in the city.
With the theme of the Kaimunan Festival, food was prepared in the authentic Bilaan tradition, with rice wrapped in banana leaves and cooked inside bamboos.
Guests were treated to a varied array of the bamboo cuisine, and program highlights where the Maharlika Dance Troupe led by choreographer Arnold Alvarez performed dance rituals accompanied by real "mananguetes" climbing up the coconut trees to reenact the harvesting of sweet coconut wine, otherwise known as "tuba."
The evening's Appreciation Night was also in honor of the top ten corporate accounts, namely: Dole-Stanfilco (represented by Carlos Mandujano, General Manager); Nestle Philippines; UAP-Unilab (Marlon Tabanao, District Manager of South Mindanao); Holcim; National Transmission Corporation (Earl Ferrer, Chief Admin and Bambi Capulong, Finance Corporate Communication Officer); Bio-Medis-Unilab (Allan de los Reyes, District Manager of South Davao, Cate Cabao-an and Michelle Maranan); Davao MultiMaritime Marketing Company (Danilo Bernardo, Branch Manager); Pilipinas Shell (Joan Jennifer Tan, Distribution Officer); Unifrutti Phils. Incorporated (Sharon Panti, HR Admin. Senior Supervisor); Petron Corporation (Ariel Avenasa, Area Sales Executive); Caltex Philippines (Alex dela Fuente, Business Consultant); and Mintrade Corporation (Ma. Filipina Canencia).
The top five travel agents are: John Baricuatro, owner of John Gold Travel; Chul-Ho Kim, owner of Mellow Travel; Dolly Marquez, Director of New World Travel; Rhodora Policarpio, Operations Manager of Pilman Travel, and a tie-up for fifth place went to Rosario Duldulao, managing director of Ticket Shoppe, and Susan Palad, owner of Kashan Tours.
Guests include government officials, regular clients and friends from the media. The evening's celebration was blessed with cool breeze and clear night sky.
