Jonalyn: Living the life of Pop Superstar

SHE may have been one of the millionaires and instant superstars at a very young age in the entertainment industry. But aside from winning the first Pinoy Pop Superstar grand champion title and great prizes, Jonalyn Viray's life also changed in an instant.

What’s your opinion on Arroyo’s emergency rule? Post comment.

Recognition, a more comfortable life, a fans club and a stronger personality are just a few among the fresh developments in Jonalyn's life ever since she emerged as winner in the first Pinoy Pop Superstar Grand Showdown.

"It's the recognition from people that I can consider the biggest change in my life. When they see me you'd hear them saying 'its Jonalyn' and it feels good. The downside of it is you can't just do the things you used to do and go anywhere you want because you have a work schedule to follow," shares Jonalyn, who now loves meeting lots of people and friends including her fans club called Magnificent Friends of Jonalyn Viray.

Jonalyn, who started singing at the age of 3 and whose dream of becoming an artist came true, is currently the family's breadwinner after her father resigned from work to assist and help in managing her career.

With her cash prizes from GMA-7's top-rating singing search amounting to more than P1 million plus a brand new car and a house and lot, Jonalyn admits that her life these days is truly more convenient than what she had before because she can now buy the things she needs and wants anytime and can travel to local places she had never been before like Cebu and Davao.

This 16-year-old lady is now part of GMA Artist Center's pool of talents and is also a recording artist of GMA Records, which released her debut album titled On My Own.

She is a member of the top-rating Sunday afternoon Concert TV SOP where she heads her own segment. She also plays a good role in QTV Channel 11's My Guardian Abby on Tuesdays.

Her life's struggles and successes were even narrated in the top-rating drama anthology Magpakailanman.

Despite her hectic schedule, Jonalyn plans to continue her studies in a home study program because she believes education is vital for her future.

Although she is a neophyte in show business, Jonalyn was not spared from intrigues and rumors. But instead of giving in to the pressure, Jonalyn has learned to be firmer and stronger when it comes to dealing with problems.

"I used to keep my problems to myself. I dealt with them alone. Now, I open up and face my problems with the help of my friends and family," she said, adding that she has learned to laugh at the intrigues hurled against her.

"I don't need to prove or explain anything because the people who are close to me know the truth," she says. Asked what she misses most after winning the title, Jonalyn shares, "It is the thrill and tension of being on the center stage of the Pinoy Pop Superstar defending your title and the excitement of singing with Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez. Nothing beats the first time."

This summer, find out who among the new batch of grand finalists will follow Jonalyn's footsteps and emerge as grand champion in the much-awaited Pinoy Pop Superstar Year 2 Grand Showdown.
