Painter charged with marijuana possession
A PAINTER was accused of possessing 9.7 grams of dried marijuana leaves after the City Prosecutor's Office found probable cause to hold him for trial.
Prosecutor I Samuel T. Atencia recommended the filing of charges for violating Republic Act 9165 against Ariel Caceres, 25, a resident of Acacia Extension, Davao City.
Caceres is now detained at the San Pedro police precinct. A bail of P200,000 was set for his provisional liberty.
In their affidavit, police officers Arthur Poral and Lito Diez, Philippine National Police members, said they were conducting a checkpoint along the circumferential road, particularly in front of the Bio Essence building, for an hour already when Poral flagged down a taxi for inspection at around 8:30 p.m.
They said the taxi passenger who was seated in front looked very uneasy.
Poral said this aroused his suspicion, especially because he saw the man hide something in his waistline.
Poral asked the man to step out and frisked him and found the dried leaves wrapped in a paper.
Poral endorsed Caceres to the San Pedro Police Precinct for investigation.
A urine sample was taken from Caceres and sent to the PNP Crime Laboratory. He tested positive for drugs. (JGRS)
