Malcampo gains

SHAY Marie Malcampo walloped Mirabel Roferos in two sets in the opening day Saturday of the Araw ng Dabaw table tennis tournament at the Davao Medical Center gym.

Malcamp's third ball attacks proved to be the best weapon for Roferos en route to victory in the women's division, while veteran Ted Dayanan whipped Randolf Dagoy and Joseph Amba trounced Diosdado Asingho to open their campaign on a bright note.

The final matches were being played as of posting Sunday afternoon.

The amateur boxing event of the RRD-Araw Sports Festival, meanwhile, opened Sunday at the Rizal Park featuring the best boxers in the city.

Billiards and cycling also kicked off Sunday along with dama.

Billiards is being held at the GL Hall and cycling at Rizal Park.

The events will have prizes up for grabs to the winners courtesy of Mayor Duterte.
