Seminar on construction safety, health

IN A bid to provide the various stakeholders in the construction industry with a working knowledge on on-site safety and health, the Construction Manpower Development Foundation (CMDF) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 11 will conduct a seminar on March 20 to 24 at the Mindanao Training Center (MTRC), Davao Medical School Foundation, Bajada, Davao City.

The 40-hour course tagged as "Seminar on Construction Safety and Health for Site Safety Officers" is a requirement for the accreditation of safety officers by the Bureau of Working Condition (BWC) as provided in the Department Order 13 of the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole). This tackles the governing guidelines on Occupational Safety and Health in construction.

The seminar specifically aims to equip the participants with a working knowledge on planning, implementing, and monitoring safety and health programs for construction projects.

Project managers, engineers and supervisors from private firms, government offices, local government units (LGUs), and academe representatives are expected
to join in the said activity.

At the end of the seminar/workshop, the participants are expected to:

Obtain a working knowledge on Construction Project Safety Management;

Demonstrate an adequate knowledge on the concept of hazard identification, accident prevention and routine safety inspections;

Articulate government safety and health regulations in construction as provided in Dole Department Order #13;

Plan, implement and monitor safety and health programs for construction projects;

Qualify for the accreditation as Safety Practitioner by the Bureau of Working Condition (BWC).

This undertaking is in cooperation with the Davao Constructors Association Center Inc. (DCACI) and Association of Carriers and Equipment Lessors (ACEL-Davao Chapter).

A registration fee of P4,000 per participant will be charged to cover the instructional materials, meals and certificates.
