Panopio eyes Fide Master chess title
RODOLFO Panopio of Calamba, Laguna is scheduled to compete in the 6th Bangkok Chess Club Open on Aril 11-16, 2006 at the Century Park Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
"Kailangan ko na lamang po ng four FIDE rated games para pormal ko ng makuha ang FM Title," said Panopio, an Air Force enlisted personnel whose Bangkok trips is bankrolled by Calamba City mayor Joaquin Chipeco, vice-mayor Pursing Oruga, and the City Council.
"Pero kung papalarin target ko din na makakuha ng IM title norms," added Panopio.
It shall be recalled that Panopio finish fourth in the Singapore Masters Challengers section last December in Singapore.
The former San Sebastian College mainstay holding an ELO FIDE rating 2382, a four game FIDE Rated short to become a full-pledge FM Title.
Panopio's bosom-buddies former champion GM Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. of the Philippine Army is already signified his intention to play in 6th Bangkok Chess Club Open coincide the celebration of Songkran Festival.
