Quiñonez wins chess crown
REYNALDO Quionez of Davao City and Rodel Alsado of Panabo City took the 16 years old and under crown after scoring 6.5 points apiece inn the chess event of 2006 Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte-Araw ng Dabaw Sports Festival Sunday night at the Gaisano Mall of Davao.
Jake Milagrosa of Tagum City grabbed second spot with six points, half point away from the champion, while Carlo Doctolero finished third.
Danilo Engay Jr. landed second with six points, thanks to a better tie-break point against third placer Scheider Nebato.
In swimming, Jan Wilfred Uy and Amanda Kehl won the 7-9 years old division at the Bago Beach Resort.
Joining them as age-group winners were Joboy Gonzalez and Celina Gonzalez in the 10-12 years old, Don Venuti and Alyanna Malabanan in the 13-14 years old, Allan Jovero and Ana Gianina Gonzales in the 15 to 17 years old and Carlo Rodriguez and Shahani Navarro in the 18 above divisions.
In the boxing matches at the Rizal Park, Mark Pacquaio of Davao City beat Nono Pepugal; John Vincent Moralde def. Roel Rebaja; Arnold Deaño def. Roldan Mamalias; Engelbert Moralde def. Jovan Galido; and Glendon Ramos def. Oliver Enriquez.
