Who's the fairest?
WHO will be Davao City's ambassador of goodwill for this year? This will be known tonight as the search for Mutya ng Dabaw 2006 comes to an end during the finals and coronation night at Cap Grand Auditorium.
The five lovely Dabawenyas, who were picked from 13 semifinalists in last week's presentation at SM City Davao, will finally compete for the most-coveted crown. The pageant starts at 6 p.m.
Considered already as winners, the ladies will vie for the titles Mutya ng Dabaw, Diwa ng Dabaw, Sinag ng Dabaw, Pag-Asa ng Dabaw and Patnubay ng Dabaw.
The finalists are Shelwyn Khier Ponce, Lorraine Fetsju Maputi Schaap, Maria Rea Lane Lagunay Horfilla, Johanne Bernice Clavecillas Guirgen, and Diana Marie Te
Liao.
The five finalists impressed the judges with their wits, confidence and personality during the presentation. Each of them are equally talented, out besting each other especially in the question and answer portion.
Shelwyn "Winky" Ponce is a 20-year-old graduate of University of the Philippine- Mindanao. She is presently working at Conpinco School of Music as an administrator. Shelwyn hails from Barangay Ma-a, Talomo District.
Lorraine "Reine" Schaap is an 18-year-old BS Hotel and Restaurant Management student of the Philippine Women's College. She represents Barangay Sasa, Buhangin District.
Maria "Rea" Horfilla is a 23-year-old BS Dentistry student of Davao Medical School Foundation. She resides at Palm Village, located in Barangay Paciano Bangoy, Agdao District.
Johanne "Joey" Guirgen is a 21-year-old BS Hotel and Restaurant student of the Philippine Women's College.
She is a resident of Juna Subdivision, Barangay 76-A, Talomo District.
Dinana "Yan-yan" Liao is 19-year-old 3rd year Political Science student of Ateneo de davao University. She is also from Barangay Paciano Bangoy, Agdao District.
Prizes at stake are: Mutya ng Dabaw 2006 -- P50,000; Diwa ng Dabaw -- P30,000; Sinag ng Dabaw -- P 20,000; Pag-Asa ng Dabaw -- P15,000, Patnubay ng Dabaw - P10,000, plus other prizes and benefits from various sponsors.
As the city's official ambassadress of goodwill who will promote the city's Vision, Mission and Goals, the Mutya ng Dabaw 2006 winner will also be awarded with a goodwill trip to Japan courtesy of the Davao-Kagoshima Business Conference. (Nelson C. Bagaforo)
