AMACC holds 5th IT Olympiad
SHOWCASING the information technology competence of the finest secondary students of Region 11, the 5th AMA IT Olympiad held at the Amacc audiovisual room (AVR) last March 3 was a big success.
IT Olympiad is an avenue for propagating the information technology in our country, AMA Education System (Amaes), the country's top information technology (IT) provider expressed support of our government's initiatives towards quality education and increased opportunities for the youth.
AMA Computer College-Davao, the organizer of the event, facilitated the Regional IT Olympiad avant-garde with its state-of-the-art facilities coupled with updated information about information technology that includes networking and other advanced computer science inputs generated into Olympiad questions, that triggered exhilaration amongst the contenders and coaches from the respective participating schools.
Contenders for the Regional Level are schools that top among the best secondary schools in Davao City during the pre-qualifying round held last Feb. 6 at Amacc computer laboratory. The raging infor tech enthusiasts from Philippine Science High School are this year's champion. Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School, last year's champion bagged the 2nd place. These two schools were stiffly competing against each other for the past four years. The regional champions were awarded P18,000.
A press conference will be launched as a take-off gathering before the National Competition in Manila on March 21.
A cash prize of P205,000 for the contenders, coach, school and an educational scholarship for each contenders await the national champion. First runner up will get P160,000 and P115,000 for the second runner-up. Hopes are up that the regional winners will also bag the P205,000 cash prize.
The contenders' victory in the national level competition will be again another milestone of our achievement in the information technology arena.
