Dabawenyos urged: Go out, celebrate 'Araw'
By Barbara Carla R. Quiero

DAVAO City Administrator Wendel E. Avisado Wednesday urged Dabawenyos to go out of their houses and celebrate the 69th Araw ng Dabaw.

"The mayor has already spoken that this is something that we should all celebrate in the spirit of oneness and always thank the Lord that He has continued to shower all of us with His blessings," Avisado said in an interview.

Avisado said the city has continued to grow and cope with developments.

He said Dabawenyos have shown great discipline and obedience to the city's laws and ordinances.

As chair of the Anti-Smoking Task Force, Avisado said the anti-smoking ordinance has been religiously followed and the liquor ordinance has also been kept in the minds of Dabawenyos.

"So kani ang mga hiyas ug gawi na nakita sa atong mga bisita, ang kalimpyo, kasibot sa mga tao, disiplina and ang padayun na paningkamot sa kagamhanang siyudad and sa katawhan na mapakita gyud nato sa tibuok kalibutan na ang atong siyudad is a city to visit and a place to be," he said.

He added that Davao City has also been and will remain in the forefront -- "the leading city in terms of the peace and order, the gateway of Mindanao, the most competitive and most livable."

"We will be known as the heart of all activities in Mindanao if not in the whole country," he said. (BRQ)
