Agdao tops 'Araw' slugfest
AGDAO District won eight bouts to emerge over-all champion in the first Mayor Rody R. Duterte Inter-Political District Amateur Boxing Tournament Tuesday at the Rizal Park.
Agdao, under Barangay Captain Nonato Bolos of Centro, earned the victories from Shalom Borja (25 kgs.), Daniel Escobia (28 kgs.), Edward Gomez (28 kgs.), Allan Ogobar (40 kgs.), Erwin Laput (48 kgs.), Lyndon Ejella (50 kgs.), Jar dela Cruz (52 kgs.) and Dino dela Cruz (55 kgs.).
Buhangin, with Kagawad James Salvador watching from the sidelines, posted six wins against four setbacks to cop second place, followed by Calinan (6-5) and Poblacion (6-6) in third and fourth, respectively.
Buhangin got its first win from the lone female boxer Vicloy Moralde, who beat 10-year old Seancon Neri of Poblacion District in the 20-kilogram category.
Moralde used her reached advantage in keeping the diminutive Neri at bay to win the three-round bout on points, 3-0.
Buhangin also got victories from John Moralde (28 kgs.), Engelbert Moralde (32 kgs.), Andrei Montojo (34 kgs.), Edwin Moralde (45 kgs.) and Federico Tacan (50 kgs.).
Led by Inayangan Barangay Captain Gorgonio Orito Jr., Calinan also collected six wins courtesy of Mark Gil Maglasang (40 kgs.), Warlito A¤over (42 kgs.), Erwin Apas (45 kgs.), Niel Bert Cal (45 kgs.), Dexter YGloria (57 kgs.) and Jhone Paul Gelbolingo (57 kgs.).
Poblacion under Barangay 2-A Captain Carlos Garcia had wins from Celso Tolido (20 kgs.), Christian Monton (30 kgs.), Franco Neri (38 kgs.), Guiller Ramos (45 kgs.), Ryan Ronquillo (48 kgs.) and Marlon Guadamor (57 kgs.).
Marilog spearheaded by Buda Barangay Captain Dominador Dayaganon scored three wins by Junibert Alegado (26 kgs.), Erwin Petalcorin (30 kgs.) and Ryan Bahala (30 kgs.), while the Barangay Captain Celso Tizon-led Talomo got one win from the flashy Jhonrex Rosales (30 kgs.).
Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners anytime this week upon the release of the financial support from the City Government.
