GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- PacMan-GenSan held the visiting Pryce Pharma-Misamis Oriental scoreless in the final 2:30 for a 73-68 triumph that firmed up its hold of second place in the continuing ML Kwarta Padala Mindanao Visayas Basketball Association (MVBA) First Conference Friday night at the air-conditioned Lagao Gym.

The win, Pacman-GenSan's fourth in six outings, only proved that this team owned by world boxing champ Manny Pacquaio is the best defensive team as it limited the rivals to just 68 points -- the new record for lowest score in a single game in this league sponsored by ML Kwarta Padala, Panasonic, Molten, Nature's Spring Drinking Water and Sulpicio Lines.

Pryce Pharma, which dropped to 1-3, gave a good fight and even led 68-65 on a hook by strongman Jesse Lumantas with still three minutes remaining. However, that turned out to be their last taste of the upperhand.

PacMan stepped up on defense as Jaypee Locsin, Apol Coronado and Dondon Tadena combined for eight points in the ensuing play to wrap up the match.

Locsin topped PacMan with 19 points, 15 of which are in the second period while Coronado and Tadena added 11 and 10 respectively.

Dondon Mendoza paced Pryce Pharma with 16, nine in the first period that saw Pryce on top, 21-17. Lumantas added 15 and Ramil Tagupa chipped in 11.

Backed by MVBA Chairman Governor Oscar Moreno, Pryce Pharma hopes to recover Sunday as it takes on Montana-Davao at the Almendras Gym starting at 5:30 p.m.
