American coach to conduct clinic
AMERICAN coach Shane Dasher will be on hand to help out the Davao Football Association (DFA) conduct a free clinic for kids and seminar for coaches on April 4 to 29 at the Tionko field.
"It would be a great privilege to teach young children the fundamentals of the sport and also upgrade coaches' skills," Dasher said.
Dasher, who guested at the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum with DFA official Erwin Protacio yesterday at the Tower Inn said, he only hopes to make the grassroots program better.
"DFA has been doing a good job with the program for young kids. The DFA people have taught everything already. I'll just be a sort of an addition, hoping to make things better," he said.
The American, who had been to 13 countries teaching football, also wants to inject to coaches that coaching is a job.
"Coaching should be more than just friendship between the coach and his player. It is a job where the coach can incorporate faith, hard work, determination and discipline," he explained.
The clinic and seminar, according to Protacio, will be held Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. (MLSA)
