City mulls local school board teachers training
IN AN attempt to sharpen the skill of teachers at the Local School Board, the City Government is planning to conduct a one-week capacity building training this summer, City Human Resource and Management Officer Marcelino P. Escalada said Friday.
The training is in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the University of Southeastern Philippines (USP).
"We are able to tie this up as our technical partnership with the USP because we will be the one to organize the training," Escalada said.
Escalada said the USP would provide the city technical assistance or personnel who would train the local school board teachers.
The training would also be held in USP.
He said they are hoping to invite 60 participants from the secondary schools of the city, the same number of participants who joined the first training last summer.
"This is for polishing because we would presume that they were hired on the basis of qualification, education, training, experience, and eligibility but teaching methodologies are evolving from year to year, updating of the teaching skills is needed because there are already many ways on how to teach subjects," he said.
The teachers would be trained in subjects like English, Mathematics, Social Science, Values Education and Filipino.
Escalada said they are still finalizing the training design for the local school board to approve. (BRQ)
