Mayor offers P100T bounty for info on Digos bombers
DIGOS City Mayor Arsenio Latasa offered a P100,000 reward for anybody who could give any information about the suspects behind the bombing of a Weena bus that injured 18 people Wednesday morning.
The police came out with a cartographer sketch of the suspect and copies were distributed to the media.
Philippine National Police Chief Arturo Lomibao visited the scene of the crime Thursday to personally investigate the incident.
Lomibao also visited two of the 18 victims -- Marteniana Latasa, 63, and Mamelita dela Peña, 44, who were confined at the Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital. The two received monetary donations from Lomibao.
Lomibao said the motive of the bombing was extortion.
"A certain Kumander Tigre called Weena Bus owner Digoy Valdevieso prior to the incident, asking P2.8 million. But the owner refused to give money. Valdevieso then learned that one of his buses was bombed in Digos," Lomibao said.
Davao del Sur Police Director Binang Hadjiril said they would remain on alert and conduct checkpoints in the area. (GOT/NC of Sun.Star Davao SuperBalita)
