Weena bus inspector killed in ambush
AN INSPECTOR of the Weena Bus Company died in an ambush Thursday dawn along the road in poblacion of Matalam, North Cotabato.
The fatal ambush happened while the victim, who was on his way to work, was waiting for a bus.
Police identified the victim as Jaime Quijano, 43, resident of Matalam. He died instantly.
Police said the ambush appeared to have occurred sometime at about 4:15 a.m.
Quijano was standing by the roadside when two men appeared out of nowhere and one of them shot him.
The gunshot wound in the head was said to have been fatal to the victim.
Police probers are looking into personal but work-related grudge as possible motive in the murder.
The victim had reportedly caused the dismissal from work of some erring personnel of the bus company.
On Wednesday, 21 passengers and an ambulant vendor were injured when a bomb exploded inside a Weena Bus in Digos City. (GOT/GF/BOT/Peng Aliño and wire reports)
