Mayor's daughter open to joining politics By Ben O. Tesiorna
THE eldest daughter of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is not closing her doors to the possibility of joining politics just like her father.
Sara Z. Duterte, who recently passed the Bar examinations, said Friday that she is not discounting the possibility that she would later follow her father's footsteps.
"In God's time. It all depends on God's will," Sara said.
Now that she is a full-fledged lawyer, Sara said, she would return to Davao City and stay for good.
Sara's father has long expressed his desire to retire from politics. What is preventing him though is that he reportedly has not found a suitable replacement for him -- one that would serve the Dabawenyos selflessly and with strong political will.
Many political observers say this person could be Sara.
But the mayor is, however, mum on the possibility of her daughter joining politics.
Asked of her message to Dabawenyos who never wavered in supporting her father, the young Duterte said, "For the Dabawenyos, we have to be competitive, we have to be world-class."
