DAVAO City cornered all 18 gold medals at stake at the start of the 4th Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa) swimming competition at the PTA pool Wednesday morning.
Another set of 18 golds, expected to be won by Davao City tankers, were still being contested as of posting.
Davao collected a total of 18 golds, eight silvers and two bronzes in the swimfest that features the elementary and secondary divisions.
The Compostela Valley (ComVal) placed second with four silvers and three bronzes while the Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) took three silvers and six bronzes for third. Panabo City came fourth with three silvers and three bronzes.
2005 Palarong Pambansa champion Ana Celina Gonzalez led Davao's medal haul with three individual golds and two relay golds in girls elementary.
Her cousin Jose Joaquin Gonzalez shared the limelight after hauling in two individual golds, two relay golds and one individual silver in boys elementary.
Davao's other gold medalists were Angala Salvador (boys secondary 100-meter freestyle), Gianina Gonzalez (girls secondary 100m freestyle), Dominico Venuti (boys secondary 200m backstroke), Alyanna Malabanan (girls secondary 200m backstroke), Lorenzo Malabanan (boys elementary 100m butterfly), Allan Jovero (boys secondary 100m butterfly) and Rachel Kehl (girls secondary 100m butterfly).
Davao City also topped the boys and girls secondary 4X50 medley relay events.
The three-day swimfest is part of the ongoing Davraa Meet being held in Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte.
