Illegal gambling operators nabbed in separate raids
TWO suspected illegal gambling operators were arrested by police authorities in separate raids in Lasang and Sasa in Davao City.
First arrested by virtue of a search warrant was Noli Carman, 40 years old, of Barangay Sasa.
Carman was arrested by elements of the Anti-Vice Unit of the Davao City Police Office Sunday evening.
Chief Inspector Juel Niel Salcedo led the raiding team.
Police recovered from the suspect cash in the amount of P23,000 believed to be proceeds from bets.
Carman is reportedly a gambling operator as attested by witness Venise Rollon, a purok leader in the area.
In a separate raid, Bunawan police arrested Sefrenio Makiling, 54 years old from Purok Capricorn, Lasang on Monday evening.
Authorities raided Makiling's residence around 6:30 p.m. where about P1,000 in cash were recovered.
The money is believed to be part of the suspect's collection from his "last two" operation.
SPO1 Mar Operario of the Bunawan Police alleged that Makiling is an illegal gambling operator, claiming they had been monitoring the suspect's activities prior to the raid.
Authorities are set to file charges against the suspect for illegal gambling. (GOT)
