Education dep't program offers 27 courses for free
AN OFFICIAL of the Department of Education (DepEd) is urging the public to join its alternative livelihood program.
Alternative Livelihood System (ALS) division coordinator Letecia B. Tesoforo is inviting Dabawenyos, who are interested to earn extra income, to join ALS.
ALS, formerly called non-formal education, is offering 27 courses for free.
"The program is open to all and facilitators are there if they are interested to learn," Tesoforo said during Thursday's I-speak forum at the City Hall.
Tesoforo said a total of 27 courses are offered in livelihood programs like cosmetology, dressmaking, basic and advance baking and cooking, international cuisines, computer literacy, basic electronic and advance electronics, handicrafts making, bag making and slippers making using recycled materials like used plastic caps and waste cloth of dressmakers.
"Learners of ALS can have an income from recycled garbage," she said.
She added that ALS students would be taught by competent instructors who are holders of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority license.
For those interested, Tesoforo said, one can inquire with the Division Training Center located on the corner Palma Gil and Ponciano Street, Davao City. (BRQ)
